A little relief from the morning sickness!
So I finally broke down and called the doctor for a prescription for my morning sickness. I couldn't take it anymore. I had to be put on something when I was pregnant with Jack as well. I was put on Zofran this time and this medicine is a miracle drug! I took it at 12:00 and dissolved it on my tongue and by 12:01 it had already kicked in! Instant relief! I still felt tired, achy and nauseous but the medicine kept me from actually puking and gagging. I am going to try to take only one pill a day but the doctor said I could take it every 8 hours if needed. I could tell when the medicine wore off. It was almost exactly 8:00 last night and I was in the bathroom puking my guts out. (Sorry so gross) I felt awful all night. I went as long as I could this morning without taking it but I ended up taking one. When you have two young children it's not really and option to sit on the couch and run to the bathroom every 5 minutes. I was fine with the medicine until I started reading on the internet about these moms that swear this medicine causes deformities and miscarriages and how they can't believe any woman would take medicine when they are pregnant and making me feel like the worse mom in the world for not just dealing with the morning sickness. My doctor told me this is safe during pregnancy and why would he have prescribed it if it wasn't?? I am not sure what is worse, taking medicine or throwing up so much that you are not getting proper nutrients to your baby. It's a tough call. I took medicine with Jack and he turned out fine. I think if I had a nanny to clean my house, do laundry, cook, take care of the boys and go to work for me then I would just suck it up and deal with it but since I don't have all that so I think I will take the medicine.

I wouldn't worry about those people on the internet. You don't know how crazy they are! I know several people who have taken Zofran while pregnant and none of their children had deformities. Some people just believe in being all natural. I didn't want to take anything while I was pregnant but by then end I had heartburn so bad that I was guzzling Mylanta! Just relax! This is your third child...you can trust your own instincts now!
ReplyDeleteWhat stinks is I am on my Crohn's medicine too. But the benefits outweigh the negatives with that too because it would be really bad if I had a flare up when I was pregnant so the Dr told me it is better to stay on it. I just hate taking medicine when I am pregnant but I guess sometimes the benefits outweigh the negatives!
